While the football action took a step back on Tuesday, 4 August in the Durban U19 International Football Tournament, schools in KwaMashu were beneficiaries of the two week long tournament as AC Milan (Italy) and PSV Eindhoven (Holland) took time off to conduct coaching clinics in the township.

The European giants shared their knowledge of football with excited learners at the Inqabakazulu High School and KwaMashu Sport Confederation where they conducted football drills and interacted with the learners.

The Durban U19 International Tournament is currently in its second edition after Brazilian side, Santos won the inaugural edition in 2014. The Tournament is hosted by Hoy Park Management in partnership with the KwaZulu-Natal Provincial Government, eThekwini Municipality and the South African Football Association, the event is growing to become one of the leading youth football tournaments in the country.

“Today was one of the most memorable days of my life. We watch teams like AC Milan and PSV Eindhoven on TV during competitions such as the Champions League but today we are interacting with players who will soon be playing in their senior teams,” said an excited Nkuleleko Mdluli who aims to become a Bafana Bafana player after he finishes school.
